Greetings, fellow members of the junior
class! As we head into our final year, we know that much is expected. In fact,
as current leaders of our class, not only do we expect a lot for this upcoming
year, but if elected, we hope to use our experience, resources, and focused
energy to establish a year completely full of events and activities that lead
up to what we have learned is the primary goal of the position of class president:
class unity. Sounds pretty cheesy, huh? At first it might, but in reality, a
lot falls under that category. Social events, academic programs, community
service, and cultural expression all provide a forum that is ideally conducive
to promoting class unity.
We should know: Three of us are current
class presidents and each of us is and has been extensively involved in campus
activities and organizations since we arrived here. The sheer volume of our
direct work with the administration and in our consistent planning of events
drives our confidence that not only will the transition into the final year be
smooth, but that we are the best candidates for the position of Senior Class
President.
The structure of our leadership this
year revolves around a cabinet that features Vice Presidents in Social,
Community Service, Academic, Cultural, Publicity, Web, and Historian positions.
We've staffed a number of Senior Class events and thus have first-hand
experience as to what the job entails. We're ready to tackle and expand upon
the already-in-effect events that this year's senior class has put on: pub
nights, semi-formal, Halloween in Castro, community service week (one each
quarter), academic and career fairs, and formal. By working with the Office of
Student Activities, the leaders of each of the community and cultural centers,
the Haas Center, CDC and our contacts in industry, we seek to develop the kinds
of events and programs that are vital to your Stanford experience and the rest
of your life.
We know the duties that we face, and we welcome them with
open arms. Why? We've been waiting to bring you a year that will top them all.
Keep the flame alive as we enter our final year on the Farm. Better yet, Fire
It Up!
